Fostering FAQ

Our rescue is small and focused on kittens mostly. Most animals that come into care come from trapping projects in Greater Victoria. Once in care they are assessed and given any medication or assistance they might need.

Fostering young kittens can be a rewarding and enjoyable experience. These little ones are full of energy and love to play. As a foster parent, you will have the opportunity to help them learn and grow.

It’s important to provide plenty of playtime and stimulation for these young kittens. They have a natural curiosity and love to explore their surroundings. Interactive toys, such as dangling feathers or balls, can keep them engaged and entertained.

Remember, fostering is not only about providing love and care, but also preparing them for their future forever homes. By helping them learn to use a litter box, encourage them to eat well and providing opportunities for play and learning, you are setting them up for success. Thank you for considering fostering!

Here are a few answers if you are interested in fostering:

What about food and litter?

We will provide all the food you need to look after these babies. However, you will need to be able to come and pickup supplies in Saanich.

What about vet costs?

We have a vet we use in Saanich, and once approved for a visit, we will cover the cost of the vet and any medications they might need (they bill us directly). However you will need to be available to get them from your home safely to the vet and back.

What if I want to adopt one of my fosters?

If you want to adopt one of the fosters you are welcome to apply. Preference is given to our fosters, but we will still verify all the information included to make sure that this is a good lifetime fit for the animal. In addition, the standard adoption fee applies.
